Joy Cooke, Senior Vice President, was delighted to welcome County President Chris Ward (Lillington) and her County Ladies to Blossomfield for the opening event of the season. SVP Gala Hmmm 225x150SVP Gala How Far 225x166

SVP Gala Keep Smiling 225x150The weather, as always when the bowling season starts, took a turn for the worse with threatening clouds and a cold wind, but the County Ladies are hardy and they managed twelve ends before the welcome and very tasty tea and cake beckoned.

The Gala winner was Donna Kerr (RLS) and the 'Spider' was won by Jayne Henfrey (Lillington) who received a bottle of whisky. Joy gave everyone a Butterfly brooch which represents the Lupus charity which she will be sponsoring  during her Presidential year in 2018 and went on to say 'I have played a variety of sports from a young age and enjoy the camaraderie that playing in a team provides, but there is nothing quite like the fellowship that we experience in the game of bowls and the SVP gala day was a fine example.  Thanks to all who braved the elements and best wishes for the rest of the season'.
